1971 Canada British Columbia Centennial Silver Dollar Deeply Toned
$149
Available1971 Canadian silver dollar for the British Columbia centennial, gone a deep gold across both faces, sealed in the mint pliofilm inside its case.
A Canadian silver dollar for the centennial of British Columbia joining Confederation, dual-dated 1871-1971. Composition is .500 fine silver at 23.33 grams, an actual silver weight of 0.375 troy ounce.
The toning is the point of this one. Both faces have gone a deep gold running to amber and bronze, heaviest across the fields, with the arms and the lettering standing brighter against the colour. It is the same depth of colour as the RCMP dollar offered alongside it, and it comes from decades sealed and undisturbed rather than from anything done to the coin.
The reverse carries the shield of British Columbia with the setting sun and the Union flag above, flanked by dogwood. The obverse is the Machin portrait. The coin is still in the mint's pliofilm, and that sits inside a black presentation case with a red insert.
Photographed both in the packaging and out of it, from several angles, so the colour can be read under different light.
