1972 Canada Voyageur Silver Dollar

$39.95

Available

1972 Canadian silver voyageur dollar, bright and untoned, with both the mint clamshell and the capsule.

A Canadian silver dollar of 1972, the collector issue struck in .500 fine silver at 23.33 grams for an actual silver weight of 0.375 troy ounce. The circulating dollar of the same year was nickel; the silver pieces were sold cased by the mint and were never spent. The reverse is Emanuel Hahn's voyageur, the canoe with its two paddlers and the bundle amidships, the design he cut for the 1935 jubilee dollar and which ran until 1986. The obverse carries the Machin portrait. The coin is bright and untoned, with the frosted devices standing clear of the field. It is shown here both in the black capsule and with the capsule seated in its clamshell case, which is how it was issued.
