1989 Canada Seven-Coin Double Dollar Proof Set
$49.95
Available1989 Royal Canadian Mint proof set with the Mackenzie River bicentennial silver dollar and the aureate loon dollar.
The Royal Canadian Mint's proof set for 1989, seven coins in the leatherette book case with red satin lining and the specification sheet still in place. The commemorative dollar marks two hundred years since Alexander Mackenzie followed the river that now carries his name down to the Arctic Ocean, and shows Mackenzie and his party in a canoe beneath a cliff wall. It is .500 fine silver at 23.33 grams, an actual silver weight of 0.375 troy ounce.
This is a double dollar set: the silver commemorative and the aureate loon dollar both appear, with cent, five, ten, twenty-five and fifty cents filling out the tray. The silver dollar here has toned to a broad gold band around the rim, normal for the issue and sitting over undisturbed proof surfaces.
Reported mintage for the set is 154,693.
