1977 Canada Silver Jubilee Silver Dollar

$45

Available

1977 Canadian Silver Jubilee dollar in .500 silver, housed in its Royal Canadian Mint case.

A 1977 Canadian silver dollar struck for the Silver Jubilee of Elizabeth II, .500 fine silver at 36 mm, in its Royal Canadian Mint case. The obverse carries the Machin portrait of the Queen with SILVER JUBILEE and the dates 1952 to 1977. The reverse shows the Library of Parliament in Ottawa, the one part of the original Centre Block to survive the 1916 fire, over the denomination. Canada kept striking a commemorative silver dollar every year through this period while the circulating dollar had already gone to nickel, so the silver issues were sold to collectors from the start rather than spent. They are normally found as here, cased and untouched since the mint.
