1976 Canada Library of Parliament Silver Dollar

A Canadian silver dollar for the centennial of the Library of Parliament in Ottawa, dual-dated 1876-1976 and housed in the Royal Canadian Mint's black case over red flocking. Composition is .500 fine silver at 23.33 grams, an actual silver weight of 0.375 troy ounce. The reverse is Walter Ott's elevation of the library's domed reading room, the one part of the original Centre Block that survived the fire of 1916. The obverse carries the Machin portrait. This example has taken strong iridescent toning across the reverse, rose and blue running out of the design and into the fields, the way cased dollars often go after decades against the flocking. The surfaces under the color are undisturbed and the case is complete.
