1967 Canada Confederation Centennial Six-Coin Silver Proof-Like Set

$134.95

Available

Centennial set of 1967 with Alex Colville's one-year animal reverses, sealed in the original pliofilm, 1.11 troy ounces of silver.

Canada's set for the centennial of Confederation, six coins dual-dated 1867-1967 and sealed in the original Royal Canadian Mint pliofilm. The dime, quarter, half dollar and dollar are 80 percent silver, 34.5 grams of pure silver in all, an actual silver weight of 1.11 troy ounces. Alex Colville replaced every reverse for the single year: a rock dove on the cent, a hare on the five cents, a mackerel on the dime, a bobcat on the quarter, a howling wolf on the half dollar and a Canada goose in flight on the dollar. No other Canadian year has been treated that way before or since, and the 1967 set outsold every other issue in the proof-like series as a result. The obverse is the Machin portrait. The pouch is intact and the coins have not been out of it. Two examples of this set are in stock and the photographs show one of them; both are the same issue in the same sealed pliofilm.
