1786 Connecticut Copper Mailed Bust Left ANACS F12

$245

Available

1786 Connecticut copper, Mailed Bust Left, W-2620, certified F12 by ANACS.

A Connecticut copper of 1786, the Mailed Bust Left type, attributed W-2620 and certified Fine 12 by ANACS. Connecticut struck its own coppers from 1785 to 1788 under authority of the state assembly, and the dies were cut by hand, so the series runs to well over three hundred recognised varieties. The obverse carries the armoured bust facing left with AUCTORI CONNEC around; the reverse has the seated figure of Liberty with INDE ET LIB and the date. Both are legible at the grade. The surfaces are dark and granular, as most excavated and long-buried coppers of this series are. The holder states the grade and the Whitman number; no separate surface qualifier is given on the label.
