1893 World's Columbian Exposition Day of Sale Admission Ticket 1/F No. 282466

General admission to the exposition, carrying no date at all, only the restriction printed across the top: GOOD ONLY ON DAY OF SALE. Where the Chicago Day and Manhattan Day tickets were printed for one named occasion, this one was sold at the gate and spent the same day. The face is engraved over a fine ruled ground, with the mark 1/F at lower left, the facsimile signature of H. N. Higinbotham as president, and the serial No. 282466 set vertically along the right edge. A companion ticket in this group is marked 1/S; what the letters separate is not stated on the tickets themselves, and no explanation of them has been located in the accessible references. The reverse is a geometric lathework panel of the kind bank-note printers used against copying. Condition: please see the photographs.
