1883 Washington Evacuation of New York Centennial Medal White Metal
$395
Available1883 centennial medal for the British evacuation of New York, white metal, prooflike and raw.
A medal struck for the centennial of the British evacuation of New York, the day in November 1783 when the last British troops left the city and Washington rode in behind them. The obverse carries a bust of Washington with GEORGE WASHINGTON around; the reverse sets NEW YORK EVACUATED BY THE BRITISH NOV. 25. 1783 within a laurel wreath, with the centennial date 1883 above.
The piece is white metal and prooflike, the fields reflective enough to mirror the wreath when it is turned under a light. Surfaces are clean, with the small handling marks that white metal always takes.
Offered raw and ungraded. A certified example of this type sold here previously; this is a separate piece from that one.
