1888 Benjamin Harrison and Morton Enameled Flag Lapel Stud DeWitt BH 1888-27a Brass

An 1888 Republican campaign lapel stud for Benjamin Harrison and Levi P. Morton, enameled brass at about 18 mm, cataloged as DeWitt BH 1888-27a. A United States flag sits on a stippled center field inside a white enamel border, the date at the top and HARRISON, MORTON around the lower edge. The stippling is there to keep the flag from disappearing at arm's length, which is the sort of problem a die cutter working at 18 mm had to solve. Harrison and Morton won that November, unseating Grover Cleveland in the electoral college.
