A campaign badge for James G. Blaine in the 1884 canvass: an ornamental upper bar lettered BLAINE, joined by two small rings to a five-pointed star below carrying OUR CHOICE. Roughly 60 mm high by 53 mm wide.
The two-piece construction and the plain, almost jeweler's treatment set it apart from the portrait medals, ferrotypes and shell badges that make up most of the surviving Blaine material.
This exact badge has not been located in the DeWitt and Sullivan listings or in the accessible auction archives. Other Blaine badges using the OUR CHOICE slogan are known, but they are different designs, so this is offered as an unlisted variety rather than attributed to a number it may not hold.
Detail is strong and the two-piece suspension is intact.
