1933 Santa Monica Breakwater Souvenir Medal

A dollar-size souvenir struck for the Santa Monica breakwater, completed in 1933. The obverse shows the breakwater and its construction plant with the legend SOUVENIR BREAKWATER 1933 * SANTA MONICA, CALIF. The reverse has a standing figure beside a pier structure, legended SOUVENIR FROM CALIFORNIA'S PLAYGROUND and OCEAN PARK. The metal cannot be settled from the photographs; it reads as aluminum or white metal. No Hibler and Kappen number has been confirmed for the piece. Condition: please see the photographs.
